MARGO ELIZABETH WEILER

(MCGOWAN)

August 1956 - January 2024

Peacefully, on January 27, 2024, Margo passed away at Victoria General Hospital.

She was born at Brandon General Hospital. The family moved to Winnipeg a few years later where they resided in St. Vital. She attended Norberry Elementary and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate in 1974. A career at Manitoba Telephone System for 38 years was exciting and gratifying, holding many different positions in several departments.

She is survived by her husband Roland and her brother Ross McGowan. Margo was an avid quilter, knitter, and loved crocheting. She was the founding member of the quilt group “Quilt Busters”, and was President of “Quilt Adventure Bus Tours”. Winters were spent with her husband at their home in Mesa, Arizona, where she enjoyed hiking, lapidary, and stained glass. Travel was a big part of her life where she and her husband travelled to six continents. She loved animals, the outdoors and was a volunteer at Fort Whyte Alive. Volunteering with the MTS Volunteers, she made chemo hats for the Guardian Angel Room, and she also organized the MTS Volunteers Thursday Golf League. She and her husband were members of the Sunny Sam RV group where they travelled around Manitoba camping with their fifth wheel trailer.

Margo would like to thank all the staff at both the CancerCare Manitoba and the Victoria General Hospital.

In lieu of a funeral service, she would ask that anyone reading this to go out and perform an act of kindness to help make the world a better place, and practice being kind to one another.

Don’t learn to live without me

Just learn to live with me in

a different way.

If you need to see me, look in your

shadow when the sun shines.

Don’t learn to live without me

Just learn to look for me in the moments.

  • My memory of Margo goes way back when she was dating my cousin Roland, her husband. Margo was always a very positive upbeat kind of person and a great sense of humor, she was, in my opinion a perfect match for Roland. I send along my deepest sympathy and condolences and also heart felt wishes extended to my cousin Roland, as everyone who got to know Margo would tell you on how much she will be missed by her loved ones family members and close friends. R.I.P. dear Margo. - Posted by: Frank Weiler (I was indirect family member ) on: Feb 03, 2024
