CAROL JOY ANDERSON

October 15, 1950 – January 19, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Joy Anderson on January 19, 2024. She was 73. The family stood by Carol’s side, at moment of passing, to honour her wonderful life. We will all miss her dearly.

She is survived by husband Doug, daughter Becka, son Jon with partner Pam, grandsons, Erik, Gavin, Jayden and granddaughters, Addison and Julia as well as well brother Rick (Sherry), brothers-in-law, Garry (Carol), Ron (Suzanne) and Greg and their respective families.

This lady certainly left her mark on everyone she met. With her endless kindness and respect for everyone she encountered, her life was both fulfilling and complete. Early on in her marriage, it was decided that being a stay-at-home mom and volunteering was an honourable vocation. With her natural beauty and endless smile, she charmed everyone she encountered.

Carol's life started out with a challenge. She was born with a heart defect. It wasn't until she was nine years old that she received corrective surgery. It occurred at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Unfortunately the technology failed and she suffered a stroke. So for the rest of her life she navigated life with paralysis of the left side. But this never stopped her. She earned a BA from University of Winnipeg, had and successfully raised two children while being happily married to Doug for 52 years. During the same time, she spent 50 years in the Girl Guides of Canada organization. She relished every moment of her time with Guiding while doing every job offered to her. Her adventure culminated with her tenure as the Provincial Girl Guide Commissioner for five years. She continued in Guiding while serving on the National Council.

Carol's adventures in volunteering spread to the community where she spent time in various functions at Glenwood Community Centre. She was also a member of the Glenwood Revitalization Committee helping to create local community projects. They were supported and funded by the City of Winnipeg. If this wasn't enough Carol was also the Secretary-Treasurer of the family's computer business, Microstructure Inc. She was responsible for the financial side of the business. She also helped her son's business, Power Jet Clean in a similar function.

One of her favourite times was looking after and caring for her children and grandchildren. They brought much joy to her life.

Carol was also an avid and voracious reader. She loved her books. With the speed she read, it was becoming an expensive hobby. We often wondered what else she would have accomplished without the heart issues. It certainly never stopped her!

Going back in time, she was an active little girl. One of her favourite adventures was to bounce on her daddy's knee. This earned her the nickname "Bounce" which became the family's name for her. No one knew who Carol was! It was just Bounce!

The family would like to thank the first responders, the doctors, the nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Emergency Department for their kind and respectful caring of Carol.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial on February 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. held at Thomson “In the Park”, 1231 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heart and Stroke in her honour.

Bounce Mom and Grandma, in our hearts, we will always love you and will never forget you. It is our hope that you will be happy and at peace. We were blessed to have you in our lives.
