SALOME SARAH HIEBERT

November 17, 1929 -

January 30, 2024


Salome Sarah (Voth) Hiebert passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024. She was born November 17, 1929, to Marie (Wiebe) and Isaac Voth, in Burwalde, Manitoba. She is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Jake, her brother John (Voth) and brother-in-law Frank (Dyck). Salome is survived by her sister Alfrieda (Dyck) and three children; Joanna Hiebert (Dan) Bergen and grandchildren Jesse, Emma (Nick Rempel) and foster son Alex, and Chloe; John (Karis) Hiebert and grandchildren James, Janessa (Douglas) Giesbrecht and great-grandson Owen, and Kristen (Evan) Scharfenberg; Mervyn (Elmira) Hiebert, and grandchildren Olivia, Sophia and Sawyer.

Salome lived her life devoted to a loving God, whose son Jesus walked the earth in human form identifying with both joy and sorrow. She embodied in the truest sense a commitment to her faith, living with hope, demonstrating love. She will be greatly missed.

Special thank you to Dr. Sobowale and Dr. Castro-Parga and the nursing staff at Seven Oaks hospital for the exceptional medical expertise and care provided. Gratitude for the care and support given by staff on 4th Floor at Harmony Courts, Riverwood Square.

Viewing Friday, February 9, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. with formal sharing at 7:15 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. Interment prior to service on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vital Cemetery. Memorial Service will be Saturday February 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church, 1771 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee Gaza Relief.

  • What I remember about meeting Salome was how kind and special she was. She came with her husband to my mom and dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration in Arizona. Salome being present meant so much to my parents. I remember chatting with Salome and how easy she was to talk to. What a very special lady!
