A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
Peacefully at home, after a long, hard fought battle with follicular lymphoma, Barry passed away. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Marlene, sons Brett (Micäela) and Tim. He was Papa to Emma, Madeline, and Lily, and Grandpa to Graham and Eva, who will miss him terribly. Also mourning are his in-laws Sylvia Zagozewski, Judy and Karvel Karvelson, Shelley and Tom Bjornson, Heather Oddleifson, special niece Jessica, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Helen Zagozewski, parents-in-law Sammy and Norma Oddleifson, and his five siblings.
Barry was raised in Riverton, MB. After a short stint working for CIBC and Marshall Wells, Barry went on to have a successful career in the garment industry where he established his own agency. Barry and Marlene settled in East St. Paul, MB where they raised their family.
Barry could fix everything and build anything. He was generous to a fault and always there to lend a helping hand. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a calm disposition, often being the voice of reason. Barry was our son’s and grandchildren’s biggest cheer leader and most patient teacher.
Our heart felt thanks and sincerest gratitude to nieces Michelle, Janine, and Brittany, and sister-in-law Heather for their exceptional care and deep devotion to Barry.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no service and a private interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Dream Factory would be appreciated.
