Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE (LARRY) DAVID MULDREW
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) David Muldrew on February 21, 2024, at the age of 71 after a long illness. Larry was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years Gail (nee Gouriluk), his daughters Dawn Allen, Nicole Atkinson, and Leanne; sons-in-law Clint Allen and Mike Atkinson; and grandchildren Kayden and Arabella Allen who brought him great joy and laughter. He also leaves behind his brother Dennis, sister Betty Lodewyks (Hank), a large extended family and many friends. Larry was pre-deceased by his parents Cecil and Eva Muldrew.
Larry was born May 24, 1952, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in Fort Rouge and attended Lord Roberts School, Riverview School, and Churchill High School. He then went to the University of Manitoba, and St. John's College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. After graduating, he met his bride, Gail, when working as a summer lifeguard at Paint Lake. They married on April 24, 1976. They raised their three daughters in North Kildonan, balancing life between sports, the Elmwood-Kildonan YM-YWCA and Victoria Beach. He began his career as a systems analyst for Greater Winnipeg Gas, which morphed into ICG, Centra Gas, and finally Manitoba Hydro. He retired in 2016.
Larry enjoyed the lake life to the fullest after spending every summer since 1956 at Victoria Beach, with Larry and Gail eventually making it their permanent residence in 2007.
Larry will be remembered by his family and friends as the most wonderful, comical, goofy, fun loving and most positive person they knew. He was someone they could always count on and lean on for support. If you asked for a hand, he would first offer humorous applause, followed by genuine help.
Cremation has taken place. At Larry's request no service will be held. Everyone is invited to honour Larry’s life by raising a glass in his memory at your next occasion.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Larry’s memory.
The family extends their thanks to all the health care providers who tended to Larry over the past few years, and convey a deep appreciation for the people of GH-3 at HSC who took such special care of Larry in his final months.

David and I were saddened to hear of Larry's passing. We are grateful for the time we had with him over many years at Victoria Beach when we lived in Winnipeg and also after moving to Denver, during our annual visit to Victoria Beach, particularly last summer. Larry was a good, honest man who was always offering his help. We know that for many years he kept a watchful eye on our cottage especially during times of inclement weather. He was like a pied piper when it came to children. All our children, along with any other children on the beach, always wanted to be in the water when Larry was in the water! We will all miss Larry. We give our heartfelt condolences to all his family, especially Gail, his children and grandchildren. Betty and David Shantz. - Posted by: Betty and David Shantz (Longtime Friends) on: Feb 28, 2024

Larry was one of the dad figures in my life. I’m best buds with his youngest, Leanne. He must have drove us a million miles to volleyball and basketball games, tournaments, and trips. He is the most tolerant human on earth to drive teenage girls around in a van - who are so obnoxious and excited for sports, played the worst music and talked so loud every minute of every ride. Then after that, we brought all our smelly knee pads and food into his van where we debrief every minute of the game. And he just smiled and faced forward. Those van rides were formative years, hosted by Larry’s kindness and patience (and Gail too!). This experience translated into cabin life as well as Larry would putter around and taking care of the cabin and the people in it. And we’re still just girls hanging out, feeling safe and cared for by Larry. - Posted by: Lindsay Poggemiller Smith (Friend of the family ) on: Feb 24, 2024

Deepest condolences to Gail and family on the passing of your loved one, Larry. Back in the days we were neighbours in St. Vital as their girls were growing up alongside our boys. Sharing a fence, a lot of conversations and get togethers occurred. After moving to N.K. we kept in touch but then life got busy. Larry will be remembered for his love of his wife and girls and family. Rest in peace Larry. To Gail and family, Larry will continue to live on in your hearts. Our thoughts and prayers for all of you. Taras and Shirley Chubey and family. - Posted by: Shirley and Taras Chubey (Friends) on: Feb 24, 2024

I am so sorry for Gail and the Girls loss of Larry. One truly Great guy who yes would help anyone who asked. He helped me many times, car break down on a blizzardy day. Many computer issues, staying up so I could play sim city and their house on Knowles. Larry made the best popcorn ever. Let Gail and I get tipsy, and did the dishes. Explained the many trilogy movies with Gail to me. Gail won the lottery when she married Larry. He will be missed so much. The dynamic duo to me. Greatest couple ever. Love Wanda and Richard. - Posted by: Wanda Kowalik (friend) on: Feb 24, 2024
