Beloved mother of Stefanie (Meseric) Edwards, mother-in-law of Floyd Edwards, grandmother of Sabrina and Samantha, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, with her family by her side.
Carolina was predeceased by her husband Stefan, her parents, Agnes-Rose and Andrew, brothers, John, Stanley, Frank and Lawrence, sisters, Ann, Mary and Stella, and her special friend Benny Konowalchuk.
Carolina was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba. She left Winnipegosis to attend teacher’s college and received a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education. Carolina taught for over 42 years.
Carolina loved her teaching career. She taught at various schools throughout the years and touched many young lives. In particular she loved teaching the students how to jig for the Festival du Voyageur, teaching the students about China and their annual trips to Chinatown, and teaching her beloved French language in the schools.
In 1971 Carolina married Stefan. They were married 35 years up until Stefan’s passing. Carolina and Stefan eventually purchased a home with a large garden where they spent many hours tending to beautiful vegetables.
Carolina’s favourite pastime was having picnics in her backyard. She loved to sing, dance and write. Carolina loved being involved with the church and the CWL. Here she made pierogies, got involved in quilt making and was in the choir. Carolina was also able to travel to several fun destinations throughout her life.
Carolina leaves behind her brother Mike and sister Sr. Germaine OSB (Rose), many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, godchildren and many, many friends.
Because we are in the season of lent, no flowers can be present in the church at this time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sisters of St. Benedicts Monastery in Winnipeg, or the House of Bread in Nanaimo, BC.
Stefanie and family would like to extend so much gratitude and thanks to the kind staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
Services are as follows: Catholic prayers Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Church and funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, also at St. Theresa’s Church, 3597 Main St. with reception to follow. A private interment will take place at a later date.
