TYRUS HAGBERT PARLOW

March 9, 1935 - February 26, 2024

Tyrus Parlow 88, our husband, dad, brother, grandpa and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Born on March 9, 1935, Ty lived a full and vibrant life from his childhood growing up with his five brothers and sisters in Sault Ste Marie and attending school in Hamilton, Ontario to his many adventures across the country from Halifax to New Brunswick to Edmonton and then 29 years spent working as a pipe fitter at the pulp and paper mill in The Pas, Manitoba before he retired to Brandon, Manitoba.

Ty and his wife of 64 Years, Janet, enjoyed their retirement in Brandon, Manitoba, spending time with their five grandchildren, they were Ty’s pride and joy. Ty was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than spending time out on the water with a fishing pole, he had endless patience when it came to teaching his grandchildren how to catch their first fish.

He is survived by his wife Janet, children Chris (Kathie), Pamela (Kevin) O’Rourke, Heather (Bill) Carr and Terry (Sandra), and his grandchildren, Maegan, Brody, Jordan, Max and Sean.

A sincere thank you to the exceptional people at Dinsdale personal care home who supported and took special care of Ty.

In lieu of flowers, cards or donations Ty’s family would ask that you take a moment to perform a simple act of kindness for someone close to you or someone you have not connected with in a while.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • To Ty's wife, four children, their families and relatives. I am so thankful to have known and shared a part of his life. To have him as a friend, gone fishing with him and worked alongside of such a solid and honorable personality. I hope I was in return as solid a friend as he was to me. We shared numerous good times and laughs over predicaments we found ourselves in on fishing adventures, at work and living near one another. I so appreciated the phone call from Terry to talk about his dad after his passing. Ty had many friends in The Pas as he was such a likable character always trying to ensure people were treated fairly. So, it is with a heavy heart I say goodbye to my old friend until we meet again! - Posted by: Robert Landels (Friend, fellow worker in The Pas pulpmill) on: Mar 20, 2024
