JUDY EVELYN MARTINOOK

Judy Evelyn Martinook, of Brandon, passed away on February 20, 2024, at the young age of 75, after a long battle with various health challenges.

Judy was born on May 23, 1948, to Ida and John Martinook in Brandon, Manitoba. Judy was raised on a dairy farm located west of Brandon, and was the second oldest of five children. Early on in her life, her mom was diagnosed with a debilitating form of Multiple Sclerosis, and therefore Judy assumed the role of caregiver for her mother and siblings. This sacrifice Judy made was one that her siblings will be forever grateful for.

In 1974, she married and went on to raise five children on a farm north of Forrest, Manitoba. She loved her children dearly and made sure she gave them all her attention and care. Home was where her heart was, and she had a passion for decorating it as well. Whenever she would have company over, guests were sure to comment on how well-kept her home really was.

Judy was a social butterfly. No matter where she went, she was sure to put a smile on anyone's face. She was a great listener and a great talker, too! In her later years, Judy moved to Hobbs Manor, where she enjoyed many activities including gardening, coffee times, cards and shuffleboard. She also led an exercise class to help stay active. She was admired in the community at Hobbs and was always eager to lend a helping hand. People around her enjoyed the time they shared with her and will always remember her for her infectious smile.

Judy is survived by her three daughters Rebecca (Carlos), Melissa (Nikolaj), and Vanessa, and two sons Christopher and Nathan (Katherine), nine grandchildren, two brothers Ken (Sharron) and David (JoAnn) as well as a sister Shirley (Gerald), and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Judy’s Life will take place in the spring.

Donations in memory of Judy may be made to a local charity of your choice.
