After a short battle with cancer, Ernie passed away February 24, 2024 at Erickson Personal Care Home at the age of 83.
Born November 13, 1940 in Erickson, he was baptized Orest, but was always called Ernie, eldest son of John and Teenie (Koversky) Braschuk.
Ernie attended school in Rackham, MB. He took over all the chores on the farm and helped his mom look after his siblings after his father's passing when he was only 19 years old. For many years he trapped furs around the farm and was an avid fisherman. He loved gardening and spent most summers working for various construction companies running loader. He was extremely proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He spent many evenings listening to Ukrainian music and never missed attending CNUF in Dauphin.
He is survived by his loving wife Alma (Grimard), sons, Ivan (Rhonda) and Paul (Amanda), grandchildren, Zoey and Asher; his siblings: brothers: John (Paula), Dennis (Phyllis), sisters, Eleanor (Mitchell) Nawalkowski, Iris (Robert) Marchischuk, Sonia (John) Spaller; many in-laws, nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Gloria.
Funeral will take place on March 9, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. from St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Erickson, MB.

My sincere condolences to the Brashuk family on your loss. Ernie and his brother John always took the time to say hello when I was fortunate enough to attend Western Days at Sandy Lake. Eleanor and I graduated from high school together. I hope for the family that precious memories of your loved one will sustain you during these difficult times. Rest in peace Ernie.
