Gisela passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024, in Hartney, MB, at the age of 89 years, with family at her side.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Brad (Deanna), daughters Ivy (Lloyd) Turner, Trudy (Tony) Joy and their families, sisters-in-law Nancy and Judy, as well as nieces and nephews.
Gisela was predeceased by her loving husband Roderick, parents (Reverend) Eugene and Anna Marie Buehler, and siblings Eberhart Buehler, Victoria (Doug) Smith, Irmgard Buehler, Ursula Buehler, Martin (Hazel) Buehler and Herbert Buehler.
Gisela was born August 9, 1934, in Flatbush, AB. She graduated nursing school in Winnipeg, MB, and began her nursing career in Arborg, MB. While there she met the love of her life, and married Roderick on December 15, 1956. Gisela and Rod moved to Brandon, MB, in 1966. Along with raising her children Gisela loved to bake, sew, swim, cross country ski and take long walks. She resumed working part-time at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon once the children grew older. She also enjoyed travelling overseas with Roderick as part of his career and, after retirement, annual west/east coast winter vacations.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date, followed by an informal Celebration of Gisela’s Life in Victoria Park, Souris, MB.
Donations in memory of Gisela may be made to the Hartney Community Health Centre, 617 River Ave, Box 280, Hartney, MB, R0M 0X0.
