ALBERTO GIUSEPPE CIANCAGLINI
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alberto Giuseppe Ciancaglini at the age of 86. After a courageous battle with cancer, Alberto passed away on March 11, 2024 at Riverview Health Centre.
Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his sisters, Ada Olga (Corinto) from Winnipeg, Fiorina (Armando) from Belgium, and sister-in-law Maria (Angelo) in Italy. Alberto also leaves many nephews, nieces and cousins from Winnipeg, Italy, Belgium, United States and Australia to cherish his memory.
Alberto is predeceased by his mother Maria, father Andrea, sister Teresa, brother Angelo, all from Italy, brother-in-law Armando from Belgium, and brother-in-law Corinto from Winnipeg.
Alberto was born in Furci, Italy where Alberto and his brother Angelo started a tailor shop in their small town, and that is where Alberto found his true calling. Alberto always knew there was so much more of the world he wanted to explore and decided to take his craft to new heights by pursuing more education and knowledge in tailoring in Switzerland and Belgium. Job opportunities were slim in Europe at that time, and that is when Alberto decided to come to Winnipeg, Canada in 1967.
Alberto quickly established himself as a well-respected tailor in Winnipeg, with his attention to detail and love of seeing a well-made suit. Alberto prided himself in working for establishments such as Hanford Drewitt, Holt Renfrew, Ports International, and Vittorio Rossi, just to name a few. Even in the last weeks of his life he was altering clothes for his friends.
Alberto had a passion for travel, music, dancing, and history. He travelled to every continent in the world, enjoyed meeting new people, and made an effort to keep in touch with friends from all over the world. His love of music was clear to everyone that knew him, as you could find him humming a tune, singing a song, or listening to his favorite band. Dancing was another passion of Alberto’s, a usual Friday or Saturday consisted of dancing and enjoying music in the company of friends at the legion. Alberto was an avid history buff, he loved to share his knowledge of world history, which was a common talk around the family dinner table. Alberto truly loved spending time with his family, whether it was celebrating special family occasions, holidays or just a Sunday lunch.
We would like to thank all of Alberto’s friends and family that took the time to visit Alberto in the last few weeks of his life, he truly enjoyed every minute; your love and support was greatly appreciated.
Thank you to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for the comfort and care provided to Alberto.
Kindly direct your donations to CancerCare Manitoba, should you wish to make a donation in Alberto’s memory.
In keeping with Alberto’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.
