With heavy hearts full of loving memories, our family sadly announces the passing of our mother at the age of 86. Darlene is now reunited with her beloved husband Maurice of 56 years. We take comfort in knowing our parents are together again.
Left to treasure her memory are her children George Gallant (Louella), Patti Gallant-Creith (Don), Michelle Chorney (Doug), six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mom will be remembered by her sister Dulcie and numerous extended family members and friends.
Darlene was predeceased by her parents Walter and Hazel, in-laws Ernie and Edna, siblings David, Diane and her cherished daughter-in law Lori Gallant.
In 1968 Mom and Dad moved to Selkirk, MB. Mom was employed at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre for 25 years. Upon retirement, Darlene and Maurice travelled throughout Canada and the USA. One highlight of their travels was a trip to Hawaii with mom’s parents. Returning to their roots, our parents moved back to La Riviere, MB sharing many happy times with friends and family. Darlene continued her lifelong love of reading, watching curling, cheering on the Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets. Mom lived to love and support her family with a kind and gentle nature.
In accordance with Darlene’s wishes the family will celebrate privately.
A special thank-you to all the staff at Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City, MB for their compassionate and exceptional care. Memorial donations may be made to the La Riviere Cemetery Association, Box 53 La Riviere, MB, R0G 1A0.
