It is with heavy hearts that the family of Corazon announces her sudden passing at the age of 74 on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB after a brief, but brave battle with cancer.
Cora is predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Ruben Cervantes, her mother, Ana Jordan, her father, Esperidion Calayag and her brothers, Lorenzo, and Geraldo Narciso.
Her legacy will live on in her four children Ruben Jr. (Tracey), Roger (Josephine), Connie (Jonathan) and Cherry Ann (Ronald), and her eight beloved grandchildren, Joshua (Leslie), Rebecca, Madeline, Soleil, Mackenzie, Caleb, Zoe, Duke and great-grandson, Louie Grayson. Her memory will be cherished by her surviving younger sister, Ceferina Calayag and her many nieces and nephews.
Born March 13, 1950, Cora arrived in Canada from the Philippines in 1973 and worked as a seamstress at Kaplan Manufacturing where she retired with over 20 years of service. She enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren and was a dedicated parishioner at St. Edward’s Catholic Church for 50 years.
The Cervantes family would like to thank the caring staff at both the Emergency Department and Unit GB3 at the Health Sciences Centre.
Lamay will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 836 Arlington St. Winnipeg, MB with burial and light reception to follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
