LYNN (MARILYN) CARLSON

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of our elegant, precious and classy wife, mom, gram and great-gram, Lynn, with her loving husband by her side.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her husband Neil, daughters, Terri (John), Marni (Dale), son Greg (Jan), Neil Jr., grandchildren, Lauren (Jesse), Kirk (Nicole), Greg (Karen), Jocelyn, Brett (Charlotte) and great-grandchildren, Nora, Ellis, Thalia and Brantley.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Minnie and Roy Thomas, sisters, Wilma Halford, Joan Sparks and brother Doug Thomas, parents-in-law, Ed and Beda Carlson.

Lynn was born in Pelly, SK on July 9, 1933. She left home at 18 and moved to Winnipeg to begin her career with the Bank of Montreal where she worked until she was introduced to Neil. In 1980, she married Neil and was fortunate enough to focus her life on being a caring, thoughtful, generous wife and mother while also spending time working by Neil's side with the family business.

Over the years, she became a good Swede, helping with Consular duties and developing sea legs. She served on various volunteer boards, namely, the Swedish Lodge Strindberg No. 259, Swedish Cultural Centre and the Scandinavian Centre.

They spent many years enjoying winters away in Palm Springs and summers boating on the Seven C's 1, II and III at the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club, Gimli and later moving to Northern Harbour in Lake of the Woods. Her children and grandchildren have many fond memories spending time with her boating.

Mom was an avid sports fan and loved watching curling, golf, tennis and the Blue Bombers.

From Lauren, Kirk and Greg (grandkids): "It is hard to put into words the love that we have for our Gram. She was a constant, comforting, and loving presence throughout our childhoods and beyond. Gram was a bright and intelligent woman (rarely asking for help with her crosswords!) with a fantastic sense of humour - the "cool Grammie", our queen. After the three of us grew up, we all continued to enjoy the very best chats with our Gram, who always wanted to hear our stories. She supported us through our hardest times, encouraged us during our successes, and loved us unconditionally. We never had to guess how our Grammie felt - the love and pride she had was unmistakable. We love her and will miss her so very much."

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Lynn's caregivers, Rochelle and Elvie from Home Instead. Your sensitivity and caring will always be remembered by her family.

In keeping with her wishes, a private family gathering will be planned at a later date.

How lucky we were to have had you with us for so long mom. Even forever would not have been enough. You asked me every day, "What would I do without you?" Mom, what am I going to do without you?

“Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All the unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
