ELEANORE AGNES SCHROEDER

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Eleanore Agnes Schroeder on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the age of 97 years young.

Eleanore is survived, and dearly missed, by her children, Marlene, Roger, Barbara and Daryl, grandchildren, Heather (Randy), Cindy (Brad), Jay, Bethany (Tim), Evan (Carly), Jonathan (Brettany), Ryan, Todd (Shahin), Andrew (Stephanie), Anne (Kent), Greg and 12 great-grandchildren with another on the way. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Ruth, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Maria and Adolph Eisbrenner, three brothers, Ralph, John and Walter, and her loving husband, Alfred.

Mom was born August 1, 1926, at the family home just north of Rosenfeld, Manitoba. She was the youngest with three older brothers. Growing up a tomboy, she held many fond memories of working the farm with her family, stooking sheaves in the fields with Walter.

A few short years later, she was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Alfred Schroeder, and they were married on June 12, 1946. In 1947, they began farming near Rosenfeld, and welcomed their first child Marlene. In the following years, they welcomed three more children, Roger, Barbara and Daryl.

Mom worked at the Ag office in Altona for 22 years as the Administrative Assistant. She started the 4-H Club in her community and was a leader to her children as they were growing up. Mom brought many courses to their community, like St. Johns First Aid, Home Nursing, and in her spare time, she loved to read and cross-stitch. She valued her family and Alfred’s woodworking creations above everything.

Mom and Dad shared a love of travelling which took them on several exotic “around the world tours”. Throughout the years they saw Japan, Thailand, Europe, Australia, Bali, China, and a notable excursion to Booger Hollow which led to questionable choices in headwear. Camping trips in their motor home also took them across Canada and the United States and for many years, they were snowbirds who wintered in the south.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Grace Hospital for their kindness and skillful care of Mom during her time in the hospital.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Thomson “In the Park” at 1291 McGillivray Blvd., with a private interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be gratefully directed to Wounded Warriors Canada or a charity of your choice.
