CAROLYN KINNEAR

On March 24, 2024, my wife and best friend of more than 30 years left us far too young, just five days shy of her 62nd birthday.

Those who will deeply miss her include me, her husband Michael, her mother Elma, her brother Dennis (Jennifer) and his children, Jadyn and Adam; sister-in-law, though more a sister, Wendy (Nigel), and many close friends and relatives.

Carolyn was a shining light for her mother after her father Vern passed. Carolyn led a very active lifestyle. She was one of the original members of Orange Theory Fitness where she attended more than 400 classes, keeping up with those half her age. She golfed with her foursome buddies, and enjoyed riding her bike, but her favourite activity was working with me to maintain our large park like yard. She was not afraid of the heavy lifting or getting her hands dirty. Weeds didn’t stand a chance under her watch.

Carolyn just recently retired from CIBC after 40 years where she was one of their top financial advisers. Her outgoing personality led to friendships with many of her co-workers and clients.

To those of you who knew her, think of a moment where she made you smile, I know it won’t be difficult. She was one of the good ones.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Just yesterday, I was made aware of Carolyn’s untimely passing. I offer my sincere condolences. She was a wonderful caring person and helped guide me through tough times. She got to watch my son grow up. As a single parent, I would often bring him to our meetings. Carolyn looked out for me for her entire career at CIBC and I considered her my friend. • Taken aback this week to learn of Mrs. Kinnear's sudden passing. This sad news was shared at CIBC St. Vital branch. Our family was so fortunate to have Carolyn K. as our personal advisor. Over the years, her welcome guidance, thoughtfulness and upbeat patience set the bar high. Yeah she was a keeper! - Posted by: R. Appelmans (fellow gardeners - St. Vitalshe) on: Mar 31, 2024

  • I first met Carolyn in 2006, when I moved my banking to CIBC in St Vital. She greeted me that day as if I was one of her dearest friends, and continued to do so at every visit thereafter. I feel blessed to have known her and appreciate the time I spent in her company. My condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Susan Hopps (Client) on: Mar 31, 2024

  • My heart goes out to you Michael for your loss. Worked at CIBC with Carolyn many years ago. The one thing I will always remember is her infectious smile always happy and pleasant. Customers and staff liked her very much. The biggest smile was in her wedding pictures having snagged you for her husband. Take care and try and heal with all the good memories. • I had known Carolyn for 30+ years. She was always ready to help anyone. She had an amazing smile, attitude, easy to laugh and someone you just wanted to be around. I remember when she received a note on her vehicle one day years ago from a fellow who worked at Safeway and wanted to go for coffee! We were all skeptical about her going but she went and she ended up marrying him, Michael. I will always miss her and will carry her memory in my heart. - Posted by: April Kreutz (Friend and fellow employee ) on: Mar 30, 2024

  • Dennis and I spent many hours with Carolyn in her office always reorganizing our finances. She was so positive and lovely and highly tuned in. I always said to her… it was like therapy after I left her office. She always put us both in such a wonderful state of mind and we were always lighter after being with her. We are saddened and shocked at this news. Our hearts go out to all were close to her. Such a huge loss for all of you, especially you Mike. We always heard about your house and yard and the labor of love the two of you shared. She will be missed so much! - Posted by: Dennis and Faye Meech (Clients and friends) on: Mar 30, 2024
