Gerry was born August 7, 1934 in Winnipeg, MB. He attended school in the St. James area, attending Britannia School (St. James) Secondary and high school at Linwood and St. James Collegiate. Gerry held many after school jobs including delivering papers, working at General Bakery and caddying at the St. Charles Country Club. There was very little travel back then as the war created many restrictions, so Gerry immediately entered the workforce. He spent 38 years in the communications field, starting as a technician and retiring as an area manager.
Gerry’s main interest was always his family but he did enjoy being a member of various organizations such as: Kinsmen Clubs of Flin Flon and Morden, Habitat for Humanity, Telephone Pioneers, Brandon Curling Club, Wheat City Curling Club, volunteering in many special events and all types of wood working.
A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
Donations in memory of Gerry may be made to Diabetes Canada, 401 - 1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4C6 or to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
