Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER WILLIAM SHALAY
With great sadness and much love, we announce the passing of Alexander Shalay, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
Alex grew up in Cooks Creek and began his teaching career in rural Manitoba. He later moved to the Winnipeg School Division as a teacher and administrator until he retired in 1985.
Family was everything to dad and he married the love of his life, Judy in 1958. Together they raised their family and enjoyed a lifetime of happiness. Camping, fishing, golfing, curling and travel were some of the many special moments we shared.
Alex is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Judith (nee Lotecki); children, Alison Kuran (Kerry), Warren Shalay (Pat), Kara Kolson (Doug); grandchildren, Kelsey (Steve), Brett (Reegan), Lindsay, Devon (Jordan), Taylor (Daniel), Camryn; great-granddaughters, Blake, Charlie, Austyn; sisters, Anne Bazan, Arlene Staniul (Ron). He was predeceased by his parents and sister Alice Kowaluk.
Dad would always say his greatest accomplishment in life was being married to mom and raising their family together.
A Celebration of Life with immediate family will be held at a future date.

I hope the greens over there are as lovely as we've been led to believe. Maybe you can win some money back from Cy. Hugs to the family - remember the good times...Ron - Posted by: RON NIMCHUK (COUSIN) on: Apr 06, 2024

I have such fond memories of time spent with Uncle Alex, Auntie Judy and my cousins Alison, Warren and Kara. Whether it was camping, playing cards, playing croquet or playing hide and seek, spending time with the Shalay family always meant great fun! Uncle was especially important to our family after Dad died - he was someone we could all count on to help when needed. This was especially so for our mom, his sister, Anne. He was also a wonderful godfather to my sister Cheryl and I will always be so grateful for the beautiful eulogy he gave at my sister’s celebration of life. He was her godfather in every way. I will always hold warm and loving memories of him in my heart. My deepest sympathies go out to his entire family. Love Janus (niece and cousin). - Posted by: Janus (Niece ) on: Apr 06, 2024
