DOROTHY BRIGHAM

(WELTON)

December 22, 1949 - March 23, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Dorothy Brigham, with family by her side.

She is survived by her son Jason, daughter Sheralin (Warren), sisters, Irene and Barbara, grandchildren, Lucas, Oliviah, and Wyatt, and beloved dog Ron. She is predeceased by her husband Robert, her brothers, Sonny and Jack, sister Florence, and parents, Charles and Jean Welton.

Dorothy was born on December 22, 1949 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. She grew up with her five siblings and many cousins. Dorothy moved to Winnipeg in 1967. She went to hairdressing school and received her hairdressing certificate. She then worked for the Province of Manitoba, where she met her husband Robert. They married on July 17, 1982.

After having children, Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom, dedicating all her time and energy to her family and volunteering at the school, including being on the parent council for several years. She spent countless hours making meals, baking, and looking for new recipes to try out. In recent years, Dorothy has spent much of her time with her three grandchildren. She lit up anytime they were nearby and cherished every moment she got to spend with them.

The family would like to thank the excellent paramedics and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care of Dorothy in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in Dorothy’s name.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Dorothy on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Service and reception will be held at Klassen Funeral Home (1897 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg).

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My Condolences to the Family on the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. I enjoyed working with Dorothy at George V School. She always had such a kind nature and worked very hard to make the school a better place for her children. I would meet her in the neighborhood and she loved to talk about her family. Thinking of you at this sad time. Gail Harris. - Posted by: Gail Harris (Teacher of her children) on: Apr 06, 2024
