Peacefully on April 18, 2024, Ella Otto made the journey to be with her Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gerald (Gerry); children, Warren, Janice and Trevor; grandchildren, Tanner (Laurie) Wiltshire, Bretton (Alex) McVarish, Spencer (Savana) Wiltshire, Taylor Otto and Ashleigh (Gabriel) Otto and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Cael and Atley, and one more who didn’t quite arrive before she left; her sister Frieda Unger of McCreary, MB; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Cindy in January.
The family thanks the staff at Golden West and The Rosewood, particularly Margaret and Valentine, and Dr. David Breckman and Nicole at the Assiniboine Clinic for their loving care over many years.
The memorial service will take place on Friday, May 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Drive, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ella’s name to Saint James Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Society.
Mom, you are now free to walk where you will and enjoy all that heaven has for you. We’ll see you when we get there.

Ella Otto (nee Pekrul) passed away peacefully at Golden West Personal Care Home on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Cremation has taken place and further arrangements are pending.

Dear Gerry and family. My sincere condolences to you all. Ella has earned her Angel wings and May she Rest In Peace. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but Love leaves memories no one can steal. May all your wonderful memories you shared together somehow sustain you in your time of sorrow. The world and her family have lost a wonderful woman, I have many fond memories of Ella, far too many to possibly share here. She was very generous and giving lady and I miss all the cooking she did for family occasions.
