It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Jeannette Marie-Rose Viallet-Girardin on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 80.
She was predeceased by her sister Pauline, parents, Albert and Lucie Viallet and her son Maurice Frechette. She is survived by her husband Leonard Girardin, siblings, Denis (Linda), Marie, Andre (Alice), Paul and Jean (Peggy). She also leaves to mourn her children, Richard (Lisa), Suzanne, daughter-in-law Mabel, Ron (Trish), 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mom was raised in Haywood, MB where she learned the value of hard work. She moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a nurse and met and married our father. She changed careers and became a secretary at Cercle Moliere and then at Great West Life until her retirement. Mom loved gardening, canning and crocheting. She loved to host big gatherings and always put out a big spread. She had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with. She was sweet, kind, generous and loving and her smile could light up a room. Mom also loved to dance and you could find her and Leonard at a dance on most weekends. She also spent many nights playing SkipBo with the family. There is a big hole in our hearts with mom gone.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Health Sciences Centre GH7 and GB2 for the compassionate care and dignity they gave mom during her last week with us.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Eugene Parish, 1007 St. Mary’s Road, with viewing at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear Jeannette's Family; I am so very sorry to read of your Mom's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences on your great loss. I met your Mom many years ago through a mutual friend at GWL. Through casual conversation we discovered that both of us lived in the vicinity of the St. Vital Shopping Centre. From that, we agreed we should walk to our homes starting from work at the corner of Osborne and Broadway! It was quite the hike. We walked, talked and laughed a few days a week weather permitting. Dans la vie on rencontre des beaucoup de gens brièvement à notre lieu de travail. J’ai eu la chance de rencontrer Jeannette au Cercle Molière. Je me souviendrai toujours de son beau sourir et son accueil chaleureux. Sa douceur et sa gentillesse furent très appréciées.
