Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE YARMILL
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian (Alison) and Carol, her brother Ken Ewanochko (Julia), family and friends. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces, nephews and their families, whom she loved as her own.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter, her parents, Anne and Andrew Ewanochko and her brother Leo Ewanochko.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and raised in Elma, Manitoba. After Mom and Dad were married in Elma in 1953, they moved to Selkirk, where she lived the rest of her life raising her family, working and touching many lives within the community. During this time, many years were spent at the family strawberry farm. Farming alongside family and friends was a great source of enjoyment. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Mom was a hard-working dedicated employee. She worked at several places and eventually retired from Karrich Industries in 2000. Mom volunteered her time at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre, senior homes and fundraised for the Selkirk Regional Health Centre. She was a faithful parishioner of the Holy Eucharist Church in Selkirk for over 66 years. The church meant a lot to her. She sang in the choir and served on many committees during those years.
Mom also loved to travel. She treasured the cruises she had experienced and her vacation in Hawaii.
Family meant everything to her. She loved nothing more than preparing a big meal and having her loved ones gather in her home to eat, laugh, and celebrate life through stories and fond memories.
We, the family, are deeply grateful to Brenda Parkin, Leah Lycar, Aunt Marilyn Ewanochko, Don and Erna Iwanoczko, Julia Beltram and all of Elsie's special friends. Your unwavering support and love for her have been a source of comfort and strength.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ian Alexander and Ashley for their compassion and kindness. Also, thank you to the staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for the excellent and kind hearted care they provided to Mom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Selkirk & District Community Foundation Inc.
As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held. Father Walter Dudych will be officiating. Interment will take place after the service.

To Carol, Brian and Alison: We are so sorry for your loss. Mrs Y was a second mother to me since Brian and I were in high school. She always welcomed us with a kind smile and always offered us something to eat when we came over. She was an absolutely wonderful lady who always made others feel welcome in her home. She was strong in her faith and family was the most important thing to her. She will be missed. Treasure all the wonderful memories you made with her. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Rob, Linda & Stephanie Staroodub (Friends of the family) on: Apr 27, 2024
