Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD JAMES YOUNG
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald James Young.
Don is survived by his best friend, loving wife Roberta (Bert); his daughters, Lisa Pawluk, Shelley (Raymond) Stewart; grandchildren, Justin, Cody, Jessie Rae, Carson (Sarah), Erin (Jordan), Cassidy (Brad), Bailey (Nathan) and five great grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by sisters, Joan (Ron) Johnson and Barb (Ken) Zacharias; brother Gerry (Dawn) and their families; sisters-in-law, Elaine, Debbie, Cheryl (Doug) and Diana (Patrick) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Gladys Young.
Don loved spending time with family, taking the grandkids for a ride in the golf cart, fishing trips with Barb and Ken and Joan and Ron and golfing with his wife. The bond he had with his daughters was so special. They knew they could count on him to be there for them with sound fatherly advice, a shoulder to lean on or just a hand to hold.
Don had a successful career in the auto industry, beginning and ending with the Birchwood Automotive Group where he made many lasting friendships. In 2010, Don chose to retire from Birchwood and in the years since, he and Bert spent the winters in Queen Valley, Arizona. They made so many friends there and the days were spent golfing, playing cards and socializing.
Don loved hosting friends and family with Bert, be it in Arizona or at their home in Sandy Hook. He often told anyone and everyone… “I have a wonderful life!”.
A loving husband, a wonderful father, a super special Grandpa and a great friend. Don was all of these. He loved and was well-loved and will be forever missed by all.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made to the United Way of Winnipeg or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, if so desired.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Stonewall Legion, Stonewall, MB.

My deepest sympathies for the Young Family. Don hired me to be a car jockey, as that's what we were called in those days at Holiday Chev Olds in 1983. I was just 18, my first full time job. I have very fond memories of Don, he was so kind and patient as I learned the ropes. He also supported me in the different roles I had while at the dealership until 1987. Don helped set my career in motion by allowing me to develop strong work ethics, paying attention to detail and doing a quality a job. Thank you Don, you will be sadly missed but always in my memories. - Posted by: Michael Hinson (Former Employee) on: Apr 27, 2024
