Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I was very sorry to hear about the passing of my/our friend, Jae Eadie. I have known Jae for many years by working with him the the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). Jae served as our National President of FCM and served on most and if not all FCM committees. He was very dedicated and as well very knowledgeable and familiar with municipal issues all across this great Country of Canada. Past FCM President Jae made a tremendous contribution to municipal government in Winnipeg and all of Canada. Jae was here in Summerside, PEI in 2000 while I was Host Mayor of our City for the National Quarterly FCM Board Meeting, and I remember him asking me to give him a drive by a place on Spring St., where he lived as a kid, when his Dad was stationed at Canadian Forces Base Summerside. I did that and he said it brought back some great memories for him at the time. He was also a great chair of meetings and always came to the meetings well prepared with information. We pass on condolences to Mrs. Eadie and all members of the Eadie Family. You have our thoughts and prayers during these times of sorrow. May Jae rest in peace. Basil L. Stewart OC FCM Past President 2010 Summerside,PEI, CANADA - Posted by: Basil Stewart (Friend) on: May 06, 2024

  • My wife and I had the privilege of meeting and knowing Jae as members of the St. Andrews Society of Winnipeg. We joined the Society at a time when controversy over the inclusion of women in the organization was at its peak. Jae was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage and believed there was a role for women to play in the success of of the St. Andrews Society of Winnipeg. During this period, Jae showed leadership and a calm, reasonable demeanor which assisted the Society to work its way through this difficult time. Jae's qualities served him and the Society well as he eventually served as Society. President, advancing Scottish culture and the reach of the organization. Jae certainly had a real zest for life whether he was at his home along the Assiniboine River, his cottage in the White shell Provincial Park, or one his vacations to other countries. We extend our sincere condolences to Rhoda and the entire Eadie family. May you find comfort through family and friends during this difficult time. Gabh fois mhath a charaid. • Dear Rhoda, please accept my sincere condolences as you & your family grieve the loss of your beloved Jae. Many years have gone by but I still remember the days working with you at CIBC. You spoke of Jae often so I knew that he was a caring, loving husband and father as well as a loyal friend to many. May you find peace in the memory of him. - Posted by: Angela (former co-worker) on: May 04, 2024

  • I knew Jae both while he served as a City Councilor and afterward in his retirement. In my experience Jae was thoughtful, principled and an all round good person who will be missed. My sincere condolences to the Eadie family. Cherish the good memories. - Posted by: Tom Pearson (Coworker/friend) on: May 04, 2024
