It is with a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of Irene Muir McKinnon on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in Winnipeg. She was 77 years old.
She is survived by her two children, Shona Suderman (James Blatz) and Colin Suderman; her two grandchildren, Robin and Jillian Blatz; and sister Marion Friesen. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and May McKinnon.
Irene was born and raised in Kilmarnock, Scotland before attending the University of Edinburgh where she studied French and German.
She immigrated to Canada in 1972 after accepting a job offer as a school teacher while visiting her sister. Over the years, she became a wife, a mother, and eventually a grandmother.
Irene was a proud Christian, very proud of her Scottish heritage, and loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
