Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIA (GINNY) HEATHER KELLINGTON
Ginny, age 78, passed away on April 30, 2024, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.
Ginny was a life-long Winnipegger, born on July 29, 1945, to George and Audrey Snead.
A graduate of the first university-based nursing cohort at the University of Manitoba in 1967, after graduation she practiced as both a public health nurse and an instructor in the program.
Ginny married Robert (Bob) Kellington, a childhood neighbour, on June 28, 1969, and they were the love of each other's lives for nearly 55 years thereafter.
While mental health struggles, eventually diagnosed as schizophrenia, prevented the continuation of her career, she was determined to live a full and meaningful life nonetheless. She devoted herself to motherhood and was also deeply involved in supporting a number of causes close to her heart, including refugee rights and supports for people living in economically marginalized circumstances. Ginny was a devout churchgoer, serving on a number of associated committees and projects, and found great strength and community through the Anglican Church.
Ginny is survived by her devoted husband Bob; children, Stephanie (Tim) and Sean (Jessica); and her sister Georgette.
Memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 755 Elm Street, Winnipeg, where all who knew her are invited to attend and celebrate her life and contribution to the community. A private interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the charity of one's choice.

Heartfelt condolences to Bob and family. I was so sorry to hear of Ginny's passing. Bob and Ginny were such a wonderful couple. I will always remember her kind, sweet soul and all the church events we worked on together. All the baking she did for these events, and eventually all the baking she started and Bob finished for the church events. I shall miss her dearly. - Posted by: Susan Slater (Friend) on: May 05, 2024
