It is with great sadness that the family of Kim Kiyomi Tazumi announce her passing on May 2, 2024, at the age of 92 years old.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Keith (Karen), Sharon, and Jeff (Denise); grandchildren, Kendra, Derek, Ryan, and Brendan (Lora); and great-grandchildren, Brayson and Leon. She will also be dearly missed by her sisters, Sally Takeuchi, Fudge Oye, and Naomi Miyai; sisters-in-law,, Aiko Teranishi and Shirley Teranishi; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Frank; her parents, Chutaro and Yaeko Teranishi; her brothers, Ichiro and Gordon Teranishi; and son-in-law, Stuart Peloski.
Kim was born on January 26, 1932, in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1942, the Teranishi family was relocated during the Second World War from Vancouver, British Columbia to Emerson, Manitoba. The family eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she got married to her husband, Frank, and raised a family together.
Throughout Kim’s lifetime, her main focus has always been on family. Whether it was spending weekends at their cottage at Pinawa Bay, or just hanging around the dinner table with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she always cherished the time spent with family. Her dedication to family was always on display, especially her lifelong care and commitment she provided to her husband during his illnesses. Her kindness and caring personality extended well beyond family to friends, neighbours, and to whomever she encountered. She will be truly missed by all.
Respectfully, the family will be having a private service at a later date.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and kindness during mom’s illness. A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, aides, Home Care and Palliative Care staff, all who made mom’s life more comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Buddhist Temple, 39 Tecumseh St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0J8, or Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
