Isabelle Brownlee, affectionately known as “Grandma B”, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the remarkable age of 104 years. Mom enjoyed her time at Rideau Park Personal Care Home for seven years during her struggle with dementia. She was content and always smiling and appreciated the kindness and care she received there.
Mom was born in Bethune, SK, in 1919 and raised on a sheep farm by her parents who had emigrated from Scotland. Grandma B enjoyed over 30 years of teaching beginning in one room country schools starting in Langbank, SK in 1944 to 1945, later teaching at Poplar Hill and Chater schools before moving to David Livingston school in Brandon. Teaching was her passion and she never felt it was a job. She very much enjoyed watching her students grow and flourish.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her son Ray (Cindy), granddaughters, Kristi (Kent) Smith, Becky Brownlee and great-granddaughter Kenzie Smith.
She was predeceased by her husband Boyd in 1986, her parents John and Christine Rosie as well as her six siblings.
Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff for her wonderful care over the years at Rideau Park Personal Care Home. As per Mom’s wishes, the family will gather privately to share our many happy memories and celebrate a life well lived.

Cindy, Ray, Cristi and Becky, I remember Grandma B from coming into the Dr's office giving you all support during difficult visits. She was a wonderful lady. My sympathy. Hugs to you all. Nurse (retired) Adele - Posted by: Adele Sararas (Friend "nurse") on: May 18, 2024
