MARK LARKIN
Mark Larkin passed peacefully on May 4, 2024, at the age of 95.
He leaves to mourn his son Doug (Laurie), daughter Linda and son-in-law Paul (Jacquie). Mark was blessed with a large extended family: grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mark was predeceased by his wife Eileen, daughter Alice, son Rob, parents, Edward and Caroline, brothers, Frank, Jack, Ed, Joe, Dan, Dennis, Paul, Tom and a baby sister Mary.
Mark was born in 1928 in Winnipeg. He married Eileen in 1950 and a few years later, they bought a house in St. Charles, where they lived for the next 64 years. They were married 72 years. Mark was an auto mechanic and worked for Sturgeon Creek Garage for over 40 years until his retirement in 1990.
In his younger years, he hunted, fished, golfed, bowled and floor curled. He also played third base on a men's fastball team, coached girls’ softball and volunteered at the local community club. For years, Mark and Eileen enjoyed travelling and camping, eventually purchasing land near the Narrows and moving a mobile home onto the property to enjoy summers. The neighbours were amazed at their vegetable garden that flourished thanks to careful tending.
Should family and friends wish, please donate in honour of Mark’s memory to a local food bank or soup kitchen.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.

As young kids growing up in the St. Charles community, we were close friends with the Larkins. We have many wonderful memories of freshly baked bread from Eileen's kitchen and of course Mark playing tricks on us. One of those tricks was wrapping a string around his arm muscle, then flexing his arm muscle to snap the string. He always made a good show of it and kept us entertained. Our thoughts and memories go out to the family. And to Mark, a long life lived well. - Posted by: Dale Harper (Neighbour) on: May 16, 2024

I have good memories of the summers in SK when Uncle Mark, Aunty Eileen & Rob would come to visit. Uncle Mark and Rob taught young me how to fish. Mark, Dad, Rob, Calvin and I would go fishing to Twin lakes. Uncle Mark also spent a lot of holiday time helping Dad on the farm and with any mechanic work Dad ever needed. RIP. - Posted by: Steven Smith (Nephew) on: May 11, 2024
