JEAN KERYLUK

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jean Keryluk (nee Panteluk) on May 6, 2024. Jean was born on June 18, 1939 at the family farm in Meleb, Manitoba.

She is predeceased by her parents, Michael Panteluk and Tina Panteluk (nee Kuz); brothers, Metro, John, Alec, Tony, Bill; and sisters, Marie, Rose, Kay, and Hellen.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Elmer Nicholas Keryluk. They were wed on June 20, 1959 in St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Camp Morton. Of Jean’s 11 siblings, she is survived by her two sisters, Betty Hearfield and Angie Jerris; brother-in-law Paul Blashko; and sister-in-law Jean Panteluk. From a large loving family, she will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Jean resided with her husband in St. Andrews, Manitoba for 64 years where they raised their daughter Tracey Jane (Russ Howell) and son Trent Nicholas. Through the years, Jean gained the love of her five (5) grandchildren, Julianne McPherson (James), Tommy Howell (Karissa), Kiandra Keryluk, Talia Keryluk, Keira Keryluk as well as five (5) great-grandchildren.

Jean completed high school at Gimli Composite School after which she continued her education at the Success Business College in Winnipeg. Jean worked in several business firms as a secretary for numerous years and was known for her accurate and efficient typing skills. Her and Elmer started a family in 1961 welcoming their daughter Tracey. Jean retired from her career as a secretary to raise their children after the birth of their son Trent in 1967. Through Jean’s effort to improve her community, she was elected as a Councillor of the RM. of St. Andrews for two consecutive terms from 1989-95. During this time, she was also a board member of the Selkirk District and Planning Board from 1992-95.

Jean had a passion for human connection which often had her volunteering for the school, church, and for the St. Andrews Community Club. During this time, she coached girls Softball teams in the community. Through the years Jean gained a deep love for curling where she played and continued to follow the sport provincially, nationally, and internationally. Jean’s love of the outdoors extended from her immaculate collection of flowers in her garden, summer road trips with her children, and camping in the motorhome at Hecla with her grandchildren. Jean hosted countless family gatherings at their beautiful home in which she expressed her love by preparing a grand feast and ensuring everyone left with meal care packages for the coming days.

Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to CancerCare Manitoba and the Doctors, nurses, and health care aids at Selkirk Regional Hospital for their dedicated care and comfort during this time.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
