It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Larry Jonassen, aged 90, on May 4, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in Redvers, Saskatchewan on February 22, 1934. He attended high school there and then graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He went on to have a 30-year career with Manitoba Hydro in engineering and construction and retired in 1993.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, three sisters-in-law, and his first wife, Marlene. He is survived by his second wife, Shirley; his three children, Shannon (Monica), Kim (Russ) and Mark; his step grandchildren, Chris and Shay-la; and many nieces and nephews. Larry’s family was the most important thing in the world to him.
A diehard fan of the Jets and ‘Riders, Dad also enjoyed travel, golf and curling, and all the friends he made while participating in these activities. He cherished his many friendships and time spent with those dear to him.
We are deeply grateful for the palliative nurses who provided such compassionate and respectful care during Larry's last days. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with Dad's wishes there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
