It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald (Don) Alton Sherwin on May 19, 2024, in Brandon, Manitoba, with his family by his side. Don was born on November 1, 1937, in Lucknow, Ontario, as the eldest child to Wilfred and Elizabeth Sherwin. The family soon moved to Orono, Ontario, where they lived on a dairy farm before relocating to Brandon, Manitoba, in 1953.
In 1960, Don married the love of his life, Louise Wall, and together they moved to Winnipeg, where they were blessed with two sons. The family returned to Brandon in 1980, where Don established and operated Don’s Repair and Fabrication for 19 successful years.
Don’s early passion for fast cars and mechanics led him to a distinguished racing career in the NHRA, where he held records in various classes. His love for motorsports later transitioned to tractor pulling, where he continued to excel.
In their later years, once their children were grown, Don and Louise embraced a life of travel, RVing across Canada and spending winters in the south. Their adventures created lasting memories and deepened their bond.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Louise; his two sons, Korey (Barbie) and Gregory (Laurie); and his cherished granddaughters, Annika (Zach), Megan (Stuart), and Shaye.
Don’s legacy of love, passion, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His family finds comfort in the countless memories and the profound impact he had on their lives.
At Don’s request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service. A private celebration of life will be held for the family at a later time.
