It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Oddny Joan Johnson, our devoted mother, Amma and friend on February 27, 2024. She passed away peacefully at 82 years at Grace Hospice in Winnipeg, MB after a brave struggle with cancer.
Oddny is survived by her only daughter Cindy Charlene (Daniel) Young, grandchildren, Steven (Jaimee), Natalie (Benson) and Scott (Holly); and great-grandchildren, Carter, Hannah, Jens and Anders. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Barby, brother Ken and many dear cousins and close family members.
Oddny was born on July 3, 1941, in Winnipeg to Thorun and John Johnson and spent an idyllic childhood with her Amma Oddny and Afi Einar Sigurdson on the family farm in Oakview, MB. She always treasured her Icelandic heritage and valued family above all else.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue.
Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Oakview Cemetery in Oakview, MB.
