ROBERT (BOB) OMICHINSKI

1946 - 2024

It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, brother, granddad and friend, Robert Omichinski at Riverview Health Centre on May 22, 2024, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife and best friend of 57 years, Linda; his two children, Allen (Rosie) and Janel (Jason) and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Allison, Annabella, Lucas and Alex. The joy his grandchildren brought him was immeasurable. Dad also enjoyed close relationships with his sister Ethel, brother Clifford and family, his sister-in-law Florence and family. He also enjoyed ongoing support, care, and love of our mom’s sister and husband, Aunt Joyce, Uncle John and their family.

Dad had an incredible work ethic in his long career where he made many deep and lasting friendships. Dad so loved his family and friends and loved to have them around him. He loved to talk, reminisce, and think about all the good times he had with his people. He never wavered in his thinking that the good times weren’t over, and he had a positive and upbeat demeanor until the end.

We would like to express appreciation to friends, family and neighbours who would visit Dad, and brought him so much joy, especially in his recent health journey. We would also like to thank all the staff of unit 3E of Riverview Health Centre who took great care of Dad with much kindness, compassion, and empathy.

At Dad’s request we will be having a small intimate service with family and close friends. Since Dad was a hugger, please give someone a big hug in memory of our Dad.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Thank you, Dad, for your amazing ability to love us, hug us and make us know everything is going to be alright.

We love you Dad;

you will always be in our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Linda. Extending our most heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. May the memories you cherish help to ease the burden of your loss. Mick & Emily Lucko - Posted by: Emily Lucko (Friend) on: Jun 09, 2024

  • I worked with Bob at HC Paul. He was stuck with me often during the summers as I worked between the warehouse and the office. What a great mentor. Hard working, always cheerful, and smart as a whip. Nobody knew or could read off Honda part numbers like he could. He also implemented the computer system at the company when people hardly knew what a computer was. His mind was always two steps ahead of everyone else. I kept up with his whereabouts thru a friend that worked at Acklands. Always hoped to say hello again. RIP to a really nice guy. - Posted by: Tim Paul (Friend) on: May 26, 2024

  • Lynn, Allen, Janel and families - We were so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Our thoughts go out to you at this time of sorrow. I first met Bob at work in the early 1980’s. We became friends and have remained so ever since. Over the years we have enjoyed so many good times with Bob and Lynn. Outings for lunches, dinners, drives in the countryside and visits to our homes playing cards and board games. Bob was one of our very best friends and we will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Barry and Dorothy Groff (Long time friends) on: May 25, 2024
