HANS PINTEA

June 29, 1930 - May 22, 2024

In loving memory of Hans Otto Pintea; beloved father to Christine Pintea and grandfather to his four grandchildren, Alexandra, Vanessa, Victoria, and Michael.

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of a man of distinction, whose journey of 93 years epitomized resilience, kindness, integrity, and generosity.

Hans exemplified the timeless virtues of dignity and humility; his presence was a beacon of warmth and understanding. He was an accomplished gentleman in his professional life and a reliable constant in his personal life. He navigated challenges with his quiet strength and steady resolve, touching countless lives with his gentle spirit and sage counsel. He cared deeply about people and always tried to help with whatever struggles they faced.

He was a highly respected and valued CPA with Deloitte who specialized in taxation. His razor-sharp intellect and keen interest in Canadian tax laws led him to develop unparalleled expertise in his field. His clients were always grateful for his tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to providing them with excellent advice. Despite his many accomplishments and ongoing accolades, he remained a modest and private man who never flaunted his knowledge or achievements.

A luminary of grace and wisdom, whose indelible impression will linger in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him

May his soul find eternal peace and his cherished memory continue to inspire and uplift us in the years ahead.

A viewing of Hans will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, with burial to follow immediately at St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Road.

Donations may be made in Hans’ memory to the Canadian Red Cross.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My condolences to friends and family. Although my connection with Hans were somewhat limited during my early days at Deloittes, he left me with a lasting impression. Besides his brilliant mind, he was always professional, polite and concerned about others, and had the highest level of integrity. I feel very blessed to have known him. - Posted by: Barry Horan (Work colleque) on: Aug 29, 2024

  • Beginning as neighbors at Clearwater Bay, which turned into family – Hans married the love of his life of 30 years, Shirley Pintea (Blaine, Merrett). Hans was dubbed an honorary member of the Blaine family as a beloved stepfather to Gord (Cindy), Doug (Silke) and Karen (Dave) as well as step-grandfather to Erin (Derek), Melissa (Dillon), Rachel (Michael), Travis and little Sadie who all adored him as “Papa-Hans”. We were able to welcome Hans as part of our clan at countless informal gatherings and frequently at Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Fathers Day. And most notably and religiously: every August long weekend at the lake in honor of Shirley who predeceased him in 2010. Many wonderful memories were shared in Winnipeg and at the lake. Highlights include Hans winning at parlour games on the deck at midnight at 90 years old, and of course he was a charter member of the men’s unbeaten password team. Many thoughtful and profound chats were had overlooking Clearwater Bay in the evenings, where he would riddle most conversations with his logic. Hans had a special gift for sharing his knowledge with others, particularly taking time to do so with the younger folks in our clan. Everyone one of us grew in knowledge as a result of having Hans in our midst. We will miss our friend ‘Papa Hans’ dearly but are honored to have had him in our lives for so many years. - Posted by: Cindy Bolduc & Gord Blaine (step son) on: Jun 02, 2024

  • My Dad, Bonne Lemon, talked about Hans often. He worked with him and admired him. He always told us about how hard he worked and how little he slept! I guess he was encouraging us to make the most of our lives as Hans did. Condolences to his family. Laurie Tarr (nee Lemon). - Posted by: Laurie Tarr ( Friend) on: Jun 01, 2024

  • My husband, Gunter and I appreciated Han's friendship for many years. May he rest in peace! - Posted by: Hertha Jahn (friend) on: Jun 01, 2024

  • Ken and I both worked for years at Deloitte. Hans was always admired for his dedication to his profession. We both liked him as a very nice person with a different sense of humor. May he rest in peace. Betty and Ken Sutherland. - Posted by: Ken and Betty Sutherland (Former colleagues ) on: Jun 01, 2024
