Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNETTIE ANASTAZIA LUBINSKI
Peacefully on May 30, 2024, in her 95th year, following a lengthy struggle with various health challenges Nettie, our family matriarch, passed away.
She leaves to grieve in her passing: her sons, Andy (Betty), Don, Jack (Dianne) and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Ann, and brothers, Mike and Paul.
She was predeceased by her husband William, daughter Rose, son Frank, brother Leo, sister Katie and daughter-in-law Dianne.
Nettieās life was rich and full. She was a fiercely independent woman who always took an optimistic view in life regardless of the challenges she faced. Nettie was born in Tiraspol, Ukraine. Before she was two years of age, she immigrated to Canada with her parents and two older siblings. She was raised on the family homestead near Arnes where she eventually met her future husband William Lubinski. They ran a grocery store and farm operation in Rembrandt, Manitoba where they raised five children. In 1974 they moved to Gimli, where they eventually retired. Nettie lived in Gimli for 40 years until health issues began to make it too difficult to live on her own. In 2014, she moved to West St. Paul to live with her son Jack and daughter-in-law Dianne.
She possessed great wisdom and had a generous spirit that she bestowed on everyone she met. She loved the outdoors, in particular gardening and horticulture. In addition, she loved baking and cooking for her family every time they came to visit.
The last few years became increasingly difficult for Nettie as she slowly weakened from heart disease. However her empathy, love for her family and graciousness never faded.
A Celebration of Life for Nettie will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, Manitoba.
Our family would like to thank the kind staff at Middlechurch Home who cared for her these last few months.
