DONNA LEE ODGERS
With great sadness we announce the passing of Donna Odgers on May 27, 2024 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 78, due to Cancer.
Donna was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended Tec-Voc High School where she gained administrative skills that served her throughout her career, beginning with the Civil Service Commission and ending at the University of Manitoba Libraries. She also earned a B. Fine Arts (Art History) at that same university as a mature student. She retired from the Libraries in 2004 after 22 years of service.
Donna was predeceased by her best friend and husband Trevor Odgers in 2020, her parents, Beda and Stefan Boychuk, and her daughter Debra Howard.
She is survived by her son David and granddaughter Ash Howard of Calgary, brother Gary Boychuk (Evelyn Falk) of Winnipeg, sister Judy and nephews, Richard and David Whitfield of California, and the Odgers relatives in BC, namely, brother-in-law Ron (Elizabeth), sister-in-law Betty-Ann Docksteader, nieces, Karen Thompson (Ian) and Joanne Biltzan (Darryl), nephews, Kevin Odgers (Nina) and Jeff Docksteader, and their families.
Donna was a longstanding member of Daughters of the Nile, supporting the charitable philanthropy of Shriners Hospitals for Children. She was also the family member that kept everyone connected, including distant relatives in Norway, and shared her photos of special occasions with everyone. She was a patient and kind caregiver for her mother Beda, for 27 years until her passing in 2022. She was also caregiver for her dear husband Trevor during his health surgeries and recovery. Donna and Trevor were always together, through the good and the bad, and no doubt are together again in God’s grace. Donna will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family is thankful for the kind and sincere care from the staff at Riverview Health Centre during her final days.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a small graveside service on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson “In the Park” Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
If desired, a donation in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
