ANNE CLARK
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Anne Clark, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and good friend to many.
Anne passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024 at the Grace hospital surrounded by family. The last couple of years of her life were difficult, with numerous health challenges that caused her a great deal of physical pain and tested her resilience. She was a strong woman and stayed strong as long as she could. As much as we miss her, we take comfort in knowing that she has now found peace and comfort.
Mum will be greatly missed by her partner Al, daughters Elizabeth (Comrie), Linda (Tim); grandchildren David (Mandi), Dustyn (Jenna), Christian (Danielle), Steven (Melissa) and Jessica (Tyler); great-grandchildren Taylor, Ashton, Vayda Ivy and soon to arrive baby Gzebb.
Also left to mourn her passing are her brother Dewar Gow (Nora) in Forres, Scotland; Sister Christine Thorburn (Iain); niece Heather, in Rhode Island USA; as well as many cousins and life long friends.
Mum was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Tom (dad) in 2010, as well as her parents David and Annie Gow and also brother David Gow in 2023.
Mum was born on May 7, 1940 in Glasgow Scotland, the oldest of five children born to David and Annie Gow. Anne excelled at Albert Senior Secondary school, which she loved attending. She was a whiz with numbers and always said she should have been an accountant.
She married her sweetheart Tom on November 19, 1959 and they had two daughters Elizabeth and Linda.
In 1975, Anne, Tom and their 2 daughters emigrated from Scotland to Winnipeg. In Canada, as in Scotland, mum always worked hard and had many different jobs. She worked as a butcher, baker, (no, not candlestick maker), waitress, and spent many years working at New Flyer Industries as well as Royal Trust. She finished her working life with Manitoba Community Newspapers and retired in 2004.
For many years, mum loved to spend time at their cottage at Hillside Beach and spend winters in Mexico and other sunny places. After dad’s passing, Mum met Al and they enjoyed many trips to Mexico together over the past 10 years.
Mum dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so looking forward to meeting her soon-to-arrive newest great grandchild and seeing her only granddaughter get married this year. Perhaps she will now have a birds-eye view of these and other events.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers if friends so desire a donation in Anne’s memory be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Grace hospital for their caring and compassion shown to Anne and the family during her time there.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Thursday June 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion Elmwood Branch, 920 Nairn Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
If friends or family desire, memories of mum or comments can be shared at the tribute link listed below.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

I have known Anne for as long as I've known Liz, over 40 years. I have many fond memories of Anne and her family and I admired the way she navigated her way through life. I know her family was her pride and joy and she was delighted with each new member. I enjoyed seeing her at get togethers and the Canada Day celebrations over the years. I am smiling at the memory of how terrible she thought my 'pretend' Scottish accent was/is. Anne is not someone I am likely to forget. I am deeply sorry for the family's loss and to all her friends and Al..my deepest condolences. - Posted by: Martine Dahlke (friend) on: Jun 18, 2024
