Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEO COURCELLES
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, pops, pepère, Léo Courcelles, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, on June 7, 2024, at the age of 85.
Léo will be dearly missed by the love of his life of 55 years, Louise (Verrier), his children, Aurèle (Monique Fontaine), Ronald, Lucette (Yves Dupuis) and Claudette (Eric Cousineau) and his eight grandchildren, Jean-Marc (Camilla), Ghislain and Arianne Courcelles, Mikel (Chelsea), Dany (Chloé) and Yannik Dupuis, Noah and Tristan (Eva) Cousineau. He also leaves behind his sister Rita Brémaud, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeannine Courcelles, John, Henriette, Denis, Judy Verrier and Marie Lapalisse. Léo will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Léo was predeceased by his parents, Joseph-Aimé and Rose-Anna (St-Hilaire), his granddaughters, Jeannine and Louise Dupuis, brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert, Pierre (Lucille), Emmanuel (Yvette), Edmond (Thérèse), Etienne Brémaud, and Eugène Lapalisse, his mother-in-law and father-in-law George and Marthe (Verscheure).
Léo and his brothers proudly owned and operated the IH dealership Courcelles Bros. Ltd. in their hometown of Ste-Agathe for 40 years. They also owned a hog operation and an agricultural enterprise for 45 years. Many of their customers and suppliers became his lifelong friends.
Loving his family is an understatement when describing Léo. He couldn’t spend enough time with his children and grandchildren, attending family gatherings and their various activities.
Léo was known for his quick wit, sense of humour and a gift for making instant friends. By the end of a conversation, he often had determined you were related or he knew someone who was related to you. Even if no relation was found, you left the conversation feeling that you had a friend for life.
The family wishes to thank Léo’s caregivers as well as all who gave their support, prayers and encouragement during these difficult times.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ste-Agathe Church in Ste-Agathe, MB. An audiovisual presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and a link to view the live stream of Léo’s funeral mass can be found at https://youtube.com/live/REHyHjwKdjs?si=1_iRhW_LLBRNVzty. Interment in the Ste-Agathe cemetery will follow the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Léo’s memory to the Manitoba Lung Association (mb.lung.ca).

Our hearts are heavy and we share in your grief. We send our love to his beautiful family and friends as we know Leo touched so many lives in a very positive way! Leo lived a full life and was an outstanding person of integrity and warmth. We have such cherished memories and were honoured that we got to know him during our time together and adventures as the Winnipeg Wizards basketball famille. I recall seeing the joy in Leo's face when he watched Mikel excel on the court, he loved others deeply. Prayers for peace and God's comfort during this time. Love you guys!
