Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNA MARGARET WENGER
The world has lost a bright light with the passing of Lorna Margaret Wenger, early Saturday morning, June 15, 2024, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg. Lorna was a giving soul who brought sunshine, laughter, kindness, and love to everyone whose lives she touched.
Lorna will be dearly missed by her best friend and husband of 31 years, Rob Willmer, along with their two children, Ian and Grace, who were everything to her.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Janet (George) Shannon; brother James (Catherine) Wenger; stepbrother Ken (Linda) Dewar and stepsister Marsha Dewar, who will treasure the many stories and good times they shared over the years. She was also predeceased by her dad and mom, Robert and June Wenger, along with her stepmother Gladys Wenger (née Dewar).
Throughout her entire life, Lorna worked for the betterment of society. After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a recreation degree, she landed a job as a recreation therapist at the local hospital in Ponoka, AB. Following that, she took on the role of group lead for Canada World Youth in Colombia.
Lorna’s freelance writing career started at Riverview Health Centre and also encompassed Age & Opportunity, Support Services for Older Adults, and Addictions Foundation Manitoba. She spent the last eight and a half years of her career working in communications at the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, before her retirement in 2022.
Writing and editing was her gift, although Lorna shone at anything she put her mind to, including her self-taught design skills.
Lorna listened, truly listened, with patience and empathy. She had a way of making everyone feel valued and that their stories deserved to be heard.
Lorna gave it her all in everything she did. Riding her bike as transportation year-round, hiking mountains with friends, winter walks on the river, and sharing hearty laughs until tears flowed.
Lorna will live on in the hearts of many. Not a day will go by without her angel soul being missed dearly. We love you, Lorna.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface and Concordia hospitals for the excellent care Lorna received.
A celebration of Lorna’s life will be held in the near future.

Rob - I send you and the family my deepest condolences. You are all in my thoughts at this time. My memory of Lorna is of a smart and funny woman. And my first, and only, pig roast. I believe I first met Lorna at a New Years Eve party in Waterloo over 40 years ago. And I still remember her laugh. I hope you, Ian, and Grace can find comfort in the many wonderful memories that Lorna has left with you, and everyone else she met. Find the joy in the over 40 years of a love and life shared. And know that your friends, old and new, are thinking of you and sending best wishes. Take care Rob. Bill White. - Posted by: Bill White (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2024
