MARVYN LICK
Marvyn died of natural causes on June 15, 2024, peacefully, at home, after a six month struggle with her health.
She was born in Swan River, Manitoba in 1947, to parents, Garven and Margaret Lick (nee Potten), both of whom predeceased her. She had a close relationship with her parents and was an only child. She stayed single but had a satisfying life and career.
She grew up in the community of Kenville, enjoying a grandfather's farm and the company of her cousins, and the family cottage at Wellman Lake.
After completing a secretarial course in Winnipeg, she worked as an administrator with the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. She held several volunteer positions before and after her retirement. She honoured her father's service in the Second World War by joining the City of Winnipeg's #402 RCAF Reserve Squadron. Her lifelong love of books led her to join the Friends of the Public Library, where she worked in the gift shop of the Millenium Library and sorted books for the Annual Book Sale fundraiser. She also held the position of secretary/treasurer and board member for the Mixedwood Forest Society, an environmental group active in Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
Marvyn was a quiet, kind hearted, private person, independent, capable, well informed and strong willed.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss cousins, Anne and Louise, a small circle of friends, and her colleagues.
No formal service will be held.

We had many good times in our childhood. As adults we lived in separate cities and only communicated by telephone. I still think of her often. RIP Marvyn. - Posted by: Louise Saunders (Cousin) on: Dec 04, 2024

I had served with Captain Lick, (then at 402 70's) a Sgt. I was a Private and she was our admin/pay Senior NCM. A very quiet, but articulated individual with extreme knowledge of the military. Sorry to hear about Marvyn passing. I never knew her as far as I know. Her grandpa Reinhold Lick was my favorite uncle. We may have visited when I was about 12 years old. She would have been 7 yrs. old I guess. Sending my sympathies to family. - Posted by: Irma Schmor (2nd Cousins. Her dad was my cousin.) on: Jun 26, 2024
