LINDA KISIL
After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Linda, with family by her side.
Linda is survived by her spouse Murray of 23 years, brother Rick (Monique), nephew Adam, niece Leanne, great-niece Avery, sister-in-law Lorraine, stepdaughter Carrie (Rob), stepson Derek, and step-grandsons, Jordan and Logan.
Linda was born and raised in Winnipeg. After completing her high school education, Linda entered the workforce. In April of 1973, Linda was hired by the Winnipeg Police Service as a clerk where she worked for three years. In 1975, Linda was assigned as a regular constable. During her career, she served in many roles, and on March 29, 1987, she made history being the first female officer promoted to the rank of sergeant. Linda retired from the police service in 2002.
Throughout her lifetime, Linda was actively and passionately involved in the fitness industry where she promoted health and wellness. She found joy in teaching fitness classes throughout her adult life helping others.
Linda loved to travel, especially to her favourite place Barbados. She loved gardening, to golf, bike and she loved her personal chef “Murray” cooking for her.
Her greatest joy was to spend time with family, her numerous friends, her dogs and especially her grandsons, Jordan and Logan.
Linda will be honoured on July 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at 50 Bluegrass Road.
We would love to thank all Doctors and Nurses who cared for Linda throughout her journey. In lieu of flowers, we ask all donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
-Rest in Peace, Linda-

You were one of my Instructors 15 year's ago when I joined the Wellness and always enjoyed your assistance in the class to make sure I was doing the moves correctly. Being a Brit, I especially loved your wit and dry sense of humour during classes . Your workouts were refreshing and different, each time and never boring . You are sorely missed - Posted by: Valerie A. Baker (Membership with the Seven Oaks Wellness. You were one of my Instructor;s ) on: Oct 18, 2024

I was stunned to hear of Linda's passing. We shared so many fun times when we played softball with the "Rookies" team. Linda was a gifted athlete and leader. She was a well respected member of the WPS and an inspiration to all women. My deepest sympathies to her family. - Posted by: Angie Kaufmann (Friend) on: Jun 28, 2024

I am very saddened to read of Linda's passing. She was a substitute instructor at times for classes I attended at the Wellness Institute and was the most excellent instructor.......we will truly miss her and her calm and professional manner. - Posted by: Barb (Wellness Institute gym member) on: Jun 26, 2024

Shocking to hear that Linda passed away. Really a nice and well respected person amongst the group at the WPS. Many years ago, the group of friends/ co-workers played softball. She was very fit and athletic and defintely a testament to her desire to maintain fitness. RIP Linda. - Posted by: Albert J Trudeau (friend- co-worker) on: Jun 23, 2024

I remember when I first met Linda, as we started a Neighbour Watch in our new neighbourhood. Linda was so fantastic - We bonded immediately! I was able to house her at my place on Vancouver Island, and always enjoyed our visits. We also found out that we were the same age, with our Birthdays being only one day apart! She will certainly be missed - by many, and that would include me as well! I wish her family, especially Murray, my sincere condolences. May our memories of her stay with us forever! May Linda rest in peace! - Posted by: Angie (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2024
