CURTIS ROY GEORGE ELSTON

It is with heavy hearts and deepest sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, Curtis Roy George Elston on Thursday July 4, 2024, age 89 years old, at Grace General Hospital, Winnipeg.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara (nee Turk); his children, Veronica Marlene, Curtis Randall, Richard Michael; stepchildren, Wanda Phyllis, Valerie Anne, Kenneth Lyle, and his many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Curtis was born on March 21, 1935, in Winnipeg. Curtis was a “miracle baby” born prematurely and surviving polio. A student of parochial study, he joined the R.C.A.F. at the age of seventeen years old and enjoyed a lengthy and prosperous career in communications. His years of service brought him to multiple Canadian bases and service in France.

Curtis had many hobbies and interests, but he truly enjoyed years riding and maintaining his motorcycles, spending time with friends and family at the cottage in Victoria Beach, never missing an opportunity to attend airshows and aviation museums. During his retirement years, Curtis engaged in a variety of activities including; Goldwing Ambassador (Richardson International Airport), supporting local Air Cadet regiments, playing his snare drum, throwing darts, and supporting church activities.

A private family interment will take place and a celebration of life for friends and extended family will be held at 2:30 p.m. July 10, 2024, at Anavets Assiniboia #283, 3584 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff and support teams of Grace General Hospital, who provided care, dignity, and compassion for his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
