GORDON MATTHEW HOLMAN
Gordon Matthew Holman passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at the age of 90 years at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he resided for the past six years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn, son Kenneth (Jane) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, son Richard (Eric) of Calgary and daughter Karen of Winnipeg. He is survived by five grandchildren, Jordan (Jodi) Holman of Almonte, Ontario, Jennifer (nee Holman) (Jordan) Anderson of Sherwood Park, Paula Holman of Sherwood Park, and Eric and Cory Carvajal of Winnipeg, five great-grandchildren, Quinn and Lawson Anderson of Sherwood Park, Landon Holman, Makenzie and Brooklyn of Almonte. He was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Matthew Holman and brother Norman (Joyce) Holman of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Gordon was born in Souris, Manitoba in 1934 and grew up and was educated in Thunder Bay. In 1950, he joined the R.C.A.F. serving for five years. In 1956, he started as an apprentice with Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS) and retired as a vice president in 1992. He was recognized as a Luminary with MTS Allstream in 1992. Gordon graduated from the Canadian Institute of Management program at the University of Manitoba in 1981. He was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Chapter 50.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ross and the wonderful staff at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their excellent care and compassion.
In accordance with Gord’s wishes, no service will be held. Cremation and interment of remains will be at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home and Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either CancerCare Manitoba or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
