DAVID PANKRATZ
In loving memory of David Pankratz, who passed peacefully to his eternal rest in his 93rd year on July 5, 2024.
David was predeceased by his parents, Agnes (Janzen) and David Pankratz, his brother William and his son Sidney. He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of almost 70 years, Kay (Rempel); his children, Colleen Kneale (Bob), Valerie Froese (Michael), Harley (Tracey) and Amanda (Kevin Mellor). He also leaves grandchildren, Ashley (Travis), Adam (Joanna), Ryan, Kirby, Sam (Alyssa), Matt (Tori), Sydney (Hashm), Harrison and Helaina; brother Don, sister Doreen Rahier (Gilles), and five great-grandchildren.
David was born on a farm near Rosthern, Saskatchewan in 1931. In his younger days he enjoyed playing softball, which brought him various awards and recognition. The majority of his career was with E.D. Smith & Sons, where he began as a salesman and eventually became the National Sales Manager, with his career taking him from Saskatoon to Winnipeg, to Stoney Creek, Ontario and once again back to Winnipeg upon retirement. Game night with the family, golfing and listening to country music were some of his favourite pastimes. He looked forward to every Bomber game, even when he could no longer attend. David loved to joke and kept up with his witty comments into his final days.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg.
Donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee.

Unfortunately the miles between Dave and Kay and myself were always a fair distance. I believe the last time I saw them was at Colleen's wedding, Perhaps one other time. I often talked about stopping there one day on our trip across Canada but it just never happened. One of my regrets. Thinking of Kay and her lovely family in this very sad time but i know you have many wonderful memories. Hugs Deanna - Posted by: Deanna Enns (First Cousin) on: Jul 23, 2024
