ERIC WARDLE

October 16, 1932 – July 9, 2024

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Eric Wardle at the Brandon Assiniboine Centre on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the age of 91.

Eric leaves behind his wife Joyce of 61 years; daughter Karen (Tim Turner); brother Phil (Ruth) of Winnipeg; sister Jean of the UK; numerous nieces, nephews living in Canada and the UK; and cousins in the UK.

Eric was predeceased by his parents in the UK, brothers John and David in Canada.

Eric loved repairing anything that had stopped working for family and friends and had the unusual ability to fix items that were said to be unrepairable.

He built a home on 40 acres near Brandon for his family 48 years ago and was content to spend most of his time working on the acreage and house. He loved gardening in his huge garden and sharing the produce with all. He enjoyed visits from family and friends.

Eric enjoyed listening to and playing accordion music.

Eric was employed with the Province of Manitoba, in building maintenance and did many repairs in various provincial buildings located in Brandon prior to his retirement in 1989; with a few other employers prior to his years with the province.

Cremation has taken place with burial being planned at a later date.

Donations in memory of Eric may be made to a charity of your choice.

  • We were fortunate to have Eric as our neighbour while living on the edge of the Brandon Hills. He never failed to be able to find something to fix our problems with small acreage equipment. He and Joyce always welcomed you to their home and shared the bounty of Eric’s garden. Always provided good advice on how to grow things. Always had a twinkle in his eye and a joke to tell. Eric was one of those folks that leave the world a better place. You will e missed - Posted by: Lloyd and Marquetta Murray (Friends and neighbours) on: Aug 04, 2024
