DENNIS (BRUCE) RAPLEY

Dennis “Bruce” Rapley passed away on July 16, 2024, at the Minnedosa Hospital. Bruce was born in 1947 and raised in Strathclair, MB, by his parents Kenneth and Esther Rapley (McGregor) alongside his sister Vivian. He worked road construction, drove school bus, and was a municipal councillor but farming was always his true love. In 1971, he married the love of his life Margaret Manley and adopted Tammy, Alvin and Susan. They lived in Strathclair and began farming the Underhill farm with his dad, Uncle Eric and cousin Murray. In 1973, they welcomed Sheldon into the world. Then in 1974 they bought the Stevenson farm and raised their family there. In 1976, Duane was born and in 1977, Teresa was born. They farmed until 2000 and then moved into Strathclair. In 2010, they moved to Minnedosa due to his declining health.

From a young age he was involved with many sporting groups. He enjoyed baseball, hockey and curling for many years and passed his passion for sports onto his children and grandchildren. As a dad he wore the hat of coach for both hockey and baseball. As a grandfather he toured many rinks and ball diamonds to watch them play. He also enjoyed going fishing and sitting out in the gazebo on Teresa’s deck enjoying the fresh air. He was a founding member of the Strathclair Lions Club and a member to this day. Over the years they travelled to many USA rinks to watch Sheldon play hockey, Minneapolis to watch the Blue Jays, Regina for The Brier and Las Vegas. He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends enjoying many grandchildren sleepovers, birthday parties and weddings over the years.

He was predeceased by his father Kenneth, mom Esther, son Duane (1976), and brother-in-law Bill MacKenzie. He will be remembered by his family; wife Marg and their children, his daughter Tammy (John) Bekeris and children Loren (Stefano), Sarah (Matthieu), Kiva (Brandon), his son Alvin (Joan) Rapley and children Alex (Rhea), Jordan (Michelle) and Jessica (Blake), his daughter Susan (Mark) Usick and children Amy (Colin), Ashley (Kevin) and Andi, his son Sheldon (Amber) Rapley and children Connor, Colton and Pyper, his daughter Teresa (Adam) Wozney and children Mackenzie and Skylar. Also, many great-grandchildren, his sister Vivian (Doug) Mcdonald and children Jaden(Tannis), Travis (Briana), Matthew (Igor) and families, sister-in-law Doreen MacKenzie and son John, as well as many cousins and friends.
