It is with great sadness that the family of Rose Marie Black announce her peaceful passing on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Holy Family Home.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Jan Black, Todd (Nadine) Black and Tracy (Brian) Donaldson; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Bradley (Carolyn) with great-grandchildren, Mya, Bentley and Banks, Brittany (Garrett), Taylor (Denten), Kieran (Benjamin), with great-grandchild Charles, and Brynn (Erik), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Alexander in 2003 and her sister Anna in 2022.

Mom was born in Prince Albert, SK. She moved to Winnipeg to study nursing and graduated from St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. Upon completion of her nursing studies she became a flight attendant at Trans-Canada Airlines. She married dad in 1957 and was a stay-at-home mom for 21 years raising her children. She returned to nursing in 1980 at Holy Family Home, retiring in 1998.

Rose will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and generous person who made a difference in the lives of so many. Her legacy of love and service will live on through her family and the countless patients and co-workers whose lives she touched during her career as a nurse.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Special thanks to Holy Family Home for the wonderful care they provided to mom.

  • Even though itโ€™s been several years since I last saw/ worked with Rose. I can clearly remember how for such a petite lady how spirited she was and I never forgot her. Rose was always polite and kind and she had the most wonderful twinkle in her eyes. I quickly found out that Rose was a determined hard worker when she shared with me how she been both a Flight Attendant and a nurse. Rest In Peace Rose you were always a delightful lady to talk to. - Posted by: Kim Stoyko (Roseโ€™s former HCA) on: Jul 20, 2024
