It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Christian McCann, our dear Chris, on July 14, 2024, at the age of 52.
Chris is survived by his loving wife Karey, his daughters, Sarah and Natalie, and his son Calvin. He will be deeply missed.
Chris began his career at the University of Manitoba in 1995 and worked in various IT positions. His passion and dedication to the Aeses Union as their President and as the Vice President of CCU allowed him to help improve people's lives, which inspired him to become a better person himself.
Chris was known for his generosity, willingness to help others, and his devotion to his family and friends. He touched the lives of many through his union involvement and his community's political support.
He will forever be in our hearts.
In addition to his immediate family, Chris is also survived by his best friend Sean Brennan (wife Joanne, and children, Ricky and Ainsley). He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Ray Schmidt.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Refreshments and dainties will be served afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
