On July 16, 2024, at the age of 87, we announce with great sadness the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Maria Margarida Melo.
We mourn the loss of Maria who peacefully passed away on July 16, 2024. She is now reunited with her beloved husband José Silva who preceded her in death in December 2012 and their dear son Gabriel who departed in November 2023. Together in eternal peace their memories will forever be cherished.
Maria leaves behind to mourn her son Paulo (Jodie), grandchildren, Keith (Shauna), Brittany (Mark), Kyle and Mya and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Callum and Finley.
Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores on June 13, 1937, and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1973 with her husband and two sons where they settled in the West End.
Maria was happiest surrounded by her family, tearing up the dance floor with her husband and in the kitchen preparing food for her family with love.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre and Heritage Lodge for their care.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mosaic Funeral Services 1839 Inkster Blvd., on Wednesday July 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
